I’m a 16 year old male trying to come back to high school senior with alot of muscle and a six pack. The thing is I’m going to diet and exercise this summer but my parents always seem to buy junk food whether it be ice cream or soda. we have communication issues due to language barrier and my parents are very picky on what they buy due to prices.
How can I eat right when parents always buy junk food?

buy your own groceries
Well, first of all, don’t eat any of it. Talk to your parents about it, and see if you can’t find stores with good prices or with lots of sales. Ask if you could go with them or do the shopping yourself so you can have full control over what you eat.
It is important to educate your parents regarding the problems that can occur from eating junk food all of the time. Especially teaching you (their children) this way does not help you medically. Not only are they setting themselves up for medical problems but they are pointing you all in the wrong direction. They will learn once it is too late and they have an issue with their health, but it could be up to you to fix the problem.Ask to take over the grocery shopping or make a list for them before they go to the store. If you are aware and concerned for your parents and selves then you may have to do something about it yourself rather then rely on your parents.
Items such as tuna, sushi, chicken, salads, fruit, vegetables, drinking water instead of soda can help you toward the right direction of becoming more of a healthy family and it is not a drastic change, it tastes good! Hope this helps! Some tips from professional nurses on healthier choices. What kind of junk food do they buy?
Aren’t ice cream and soda pretty expensive? If you’re willing to do a little cooking, you can get good healthy food for really cheap. Buy beans and legumes dried in bulk–a bag should only cost around a dollar and it’s about 8 servings. Rice and pasta are pretty cheap as well, and you can get some decent servings of meat if you look around a little before you buy. Hamburger or turkey burger can be bought for around 1.50 a pound at discount grocery stores. In-season produce is usually on sale, or you can buy the generic frozen produce year-round.
Here’s a good, cheap, healthy meal that’s pretty easy to make:
-Cook 1/2 cup of rice with lots of spices (whatever you have laying around the house–I like to use turmeric, garlic, onion, chile powder, pepper, etc.)
-In a separate pan, cook 1 cup of lentils according to the package directions (these do not require soaking, all you have to do is rinse and boil them)
-Brown 1/2 pound of ground meat in a skillet.
-Mix all three together, and you have a complete meal. This should actually give you at least 4-6 meals, depending on how much you eat.
give them a talk, say that health is more important than money.
show them you rreally care, and they will too.
