Would it be healthy if I shoved a crap load of sugar, fat and dog crap in it?
It’s not exactly healthy…
Mine didn’t come out as pretty, and didn’t rise or fluff like yours appears to, but they still taste great. I already forget, but I think I doubled the oats. I forgot to buy honey, so I left that out. I also added one serving (about 3/4 cup) of vanilla protein powder. I used a whole egg, as I heard the yolk isn’t as evil as people say, and it contains some useful stuff too. Towards the end of baking, I sprinkled semi-sweet chocolate chips and crushed almonds on top. Been snacking three days!
@artfuse Did you get my email? I emailed you as you suggested but didn’t get any response. I made these again using 1 1/2 cups oats and 1 1/2 cups dried fruit and it worked but not with 1/2 cup of each!
@laurelcatena Sorry you had a problem with the recipe…if you want to send us an email (foodieATworkingclassfoodies[dot]com) we’d be happy to try to help you figure out what went wrong. We’ve made this recipe about half a dozen times now and it’s always worked for us. Sounds likes yours maybe didn’t bake fully in the 30 min. alloted…maybe try turning your oven up 50ยบ and/or baking for an add’l 15 minutes?
They are not being honest about how these bars are made or the yield. I made exactly as they made and mine looked nothing like theirs. After baking in the oven for 30 minutes, I let it cool a bit and added another whole cup of oats and 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour. I pressed in to an 8″ square pan and baked again until firm. The result was delicious and I was happy not to waste what was already baked. My yield was only 2 -1 1/2″ bars about 1/2 the thickness of theirs after adding the extra oats
5D Mark II :)
@seis66 I’ve made these a few times with crunchy peanut butter, but I’ve upped the amount from 1/2 cup to one full cup.
Okay I know that I wrote in my last comment that I needed a smaller dish, but really, if my dish had been small enough to yield bars that thick i definitely wouldn’t have gotten 24 of them. How is it that yours are so thick?
Yours are gigantic compared to mine! I need a smaller baking dish.
@whitebabyflamingo Awesome!
I found that when making these, the peanut butter makes all the difference. The better quality you use the better. Also, I tried putting in chocolate chips in mine and they were delicious! Great recipe!

sent these bars to my husband stationed in Afghanistan and they were a big hit, even got a phone call asking for a couple dozen to feed his unit
they look like blondies! yum
Hey guys,
I just did this recipe with crunchy peanut butter. They didn’t come up as bar – rather, just like an oatmeal…
What could have gone wrong?
haha, that banana looke G-ROSS!! haha, but the bars look nummy! good luck corwin!
healthy and delish!!!
@tlyria YUMMY!
How about homemade jerky? Second hand stores are great places to pick up dehydrators! We use london broil. Soak the meat overnight in terriake, and fresh garlic. Follow your dehydrator directions carefully . We like to add crushed red peppers to some and black pepper to others for variations on spicyness. My family likes it cut very thin so that its actually crunchy instead of chewy. This also helps speed up the process and insures even dehydration.
I make pemmican, dried shredded meat, dried berries mixed with rendered tallow.
Put the link in the sink for the survey. I want to make this tonight for fun.
peanut butter good
good luck corwin he’s gonna need it cuz appalachia is super hot qnd humid in the summer
I have a feeling Rebecca thinks Corwin is an idiot. I love this recipe, it’s really tastey and perfect for a luncheon I’m holding. :)
